Experience:I have tutored underprivileged children in my hometown, driving to their elementary school after my classes finished. Many of them had trouble with their classes because Spanish was the only language they heard at home. I would also tutor my high school friends when they were having difficulty with their classes. Both experiences were unpaid. On the SAT I scored a 770 in English, 780 in Math, and 720 in Writing. On each of my AP English Literature, Calculus AB, and World History tests I scored a 5. My GPA in high school ended at a 4.35/4.0 system; we had weighted grades for more demanding classes.

Why would I like to tutor? I'd be deceiving us both if I didn't mention my desire to earn money. My goal is to complete my Spanish education in Argentina this summer. However, while that reason is compelling in and of itself, there's more to my desire to tutor than just cash benefits. I honestly enjoy being able to help others succeed. Life has been too good to me for me to ignore a chance to make someone else's life better. I love working with people, no matter the age, and I always make sure they understand that I respect them regardless of their difficulties.

As a tutor, my particular strength is patience. With three younger siblings, I learned patience very quickly. Another major facet of my tutoring abilities is innovation. People learn in a variety of ways, and it's important to try to adjust to their style of learning. I'm also very versatile. I've had quite the Renaissance education, so I'm well-versed in most areas of study. My current courseload includes Major English Poets, focusing on Chaucer, Spenser, and Donne; Microeconomics, which deals with the basic economic model and builds from there; Intensive Intermediate Spanish, which covers all of the indicative, command, and subjunctive, and a wide array of vocabulary; and International Foundations, which addresses the history of International Relations.

This informational section suggests impressive items from my resumé, although I don't know how much relevance it will have on my ability to tutor. Either way, I'll mention some of the highlights. I was a Student Ambassador to Australia three years ago. I participated in LeadAmerica, particularly the Diplomacy & International Affairs program. I was selected from my school to attend Girls State, then selected from a pool of 420 girls to attend Girls Nation with one other representative from my state. I was a state champion of Student Congress, and a national qualifier two times in that same event. As the head lawyer of my mock trial team, I guided our group to a second place performance at that state competition. I am a National Merit Finalist and a National Hispanic Scholar. There is a slew of lesser accomplishments I could mention, but I don't think it would be beneficial to any parties involved.

If there is anything else you would like to know about me, or if you would like to obtain references, please let me know. I check my email very frequently.
Hobbies:I enjoy traveling, politics, learning about new cultures, reading, college football, and generally thinking up new entertaining antics involving my friends. I firmly believe in having a healthy love of life, and I think it shows in my personality.
