Education
I'm a Ph.D. candidate in Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia where I use statistical and physics-based techniques to study the drivers of extreme flooding and to make optimal decisions. I completed my undergraduate study at Yale University in 2015 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. My current course work is in the areas of applied physics and applied statistics, but I enjoy teaching most courses in science, mathematics, and beyond! Experience
I have offered private tutoring since 2011, run a college access program, and taught masters level students at Columbia. During this time I have learned that simply knowing material isn't sufficient; instead, successful teaching involves finding the particular ways to present information that work for each student. While all students learn differently, we all learn better when we are engaged and confident. My strategy is therefore to focus on developing core skills and confidence; I'm consistently amazed by what students are able to do when their essentials are strengthened.
